Jennifer von Baudissin has confirmed that she will be presenting a break out session at the conference entitled “Practicing as the only psychodynamic psychotherapist in Dubai”. 

Jennifer von Baudissin has been working in the United Arab Emirates in a number of different clinical settings for the last decade. She has found many challenges to practicing in ways that stay true to the traditions of her training.  An absence of an adequate framework and boundaries, as we would understand them, has proved to be difficult but Jennifer has adapted in a way that still reflects her psychodynamic thinking.

She describes how there is a huge need for properly qualified mental health practitioners helping not only the expatriate community but also the wider population, and how this may only be possible with the necessary support structures and collegiate relationships in order to introduce and sustain "good practices" and to positively influence the discussion around mental health within the region.
